Wedding Flowers (for

Flowers set the theme of your wedding – from casual to formal – from
daisies to roses. Depending on the size of the
wedding as well as style of the arrangements, it may cost you anywhere
from several hundred to several thousand dollars to set up the ceremony
and reception. Below are several suggestions on how to create a beautiful
flower setting while not breaking the bank.
Flower Idea: Choose flowers that are in season as they
will cost less. Tulips, for example, are inexpensive and relatively easy
to find in spring. In September, on the other hand, tulips become more
expensive. Your florist will be able to tell you which flowers will be
readily available during the season of your wedding and which flowers
can be used as substitutes for the ones you are fond of are out of season.
Flower
Idea: Another alternative is to go for inexpensive
blooms, such as Chrysanthemums and Carnations. If arranged in
abundance they create striking bouquets and centerpieces. Your florist should be able to
help with more suggestions.
Flower Idea:
For reception center pieces try large blooms such as Gerber daises
and have someone place them in your store-bought vases. This will save
on floral arrangement costs. Give the vases away to your guests as gifts
after the reception.
Flower
Idea: Use your imagination and be creative! If your
wedding is during the summer, consider using sunflowers instead of
expensive roses as your feature flower. Also, you will save money (and
make your wedding that much more special) if you decide to grow and
harvest your flowers from your own garden and then incorporate them
into your centerpieces. You can also use them to make eye-catching wrist
corsages or hair accessories.
Flower Idea:
Choose a light colored bridal bouquet. It should compliment your
dress not compete against it. Especially on
photos the attention will be
focused on you instead of your brightly colored bouquet.
Flower Idea:
Buy flowers in bulk online, at local flower marts, or warehouse stores
such as Costco.
Flower
Idea: Picking a beautiful and lavish venue, such as garden
or park, will often help create a feeling of flower abundance.
Flower Idea:
Move ceremony flowers to reception site. Bridesmaid bouquets also can
make nice centerpieces.
Flower
Idea: Consider using these flowers for your centerpieces if you are having an outdoor
reception. They wilt much less when the temperatures increase:
Flower Idea: Flowers that are in season all year long:
